Soccer Cleat Drive

Footie Mob wants your used (but still usable!) cleats. Why? To put them on Soccer in the Streets youth who need some good kicking boots. Much of the time the most expensive item for youth are the cleats. Please bring those cleats that your kids, nephews, nieces, grand kids, and neighbor kids have outgrown. And – I dare say it – even the cleats that you thought you’d get around to lacing back up. Soccer in the Streets will clean up, relace, and distribute donated cleats to their youth players.

Swing by Footie Mob’s tailgate and visit Soccer in the Streets’ tent to drop off the cleats and to purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win an Alec Kann autographed ball (or buy them online). All proceeds go to Soccer in the Streets coaches to be US Soccer certified.

Footie Mob and Soccer in the Streets Announce Partnership

Footie Mob and Soccer in the Streets today announce their official partnership. Footie Mob is a recognized supporter group of Atlanta United FC, whose mission includes growing and diversifying the soccer fan base in Atlanta. An objective of this mission includes supporting youth soccer opportunities and resources. Soccer in the Streets empowers underserved youth through soccer training, character development, mentoring, and employability programs. Soccer in the Streets works with over 5,000 kids each year. As Footie Mob co-founder and president Curtis Jenkins describes, “The overlapping missions of the two organizations makes this partnership a perfect match.”

Footie Mob will raise funds so that every Soccer in the Streets coach will receive US Soccer’s coaching certification. “Soccer in the Streets currently employs 48 coaches,” said Lauren Glancy, Director of Programs at Soccer in the Streets. “We’re grateful Footie Mob is generously supporting our coaches and junior coaches to ensure all staff and interested teens are set on the US Soccer Federation’s Grassroots Pathway. This partnership will support the continuing development and education of our coaching staff in order to continue providing quality programming for our youth.”

Footie Mob members, known as Footie Mobbers, are also dedicated to supporting Soccer in the Streets’ events, such as the recent ATL Nations Cup in which Footie Mobbers volunteered to check-in the teams and players. In the future, Footie Mobbers will continue to volunteer at these events and directly with the youth through skill development days and block parties.

To kick-off fundraising, Footie Mob is raffling an Alec Kann autographed ball in which 100% of the proceeds will be provided to Soccer in the Streets to scholarship coaches. Click here to purchase raffle tickets on Footie Mob’s website. Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. Tickets can also be purchased at the August 4th and August 19th tailgates as Atlanta United takes on Toronto FC and the Columbus Crew. The winning ticket will be drawn on August 23rd.

Footie Mob and Soccer in the Streets also invites all Atlanta United fans to join us on August 24th at one of Footie Mob’s two official watch party locations (Midway and Grindhouse Decatur) as we take on Orlando City SC for the final time this season. At these watch parties we will raffle off even more Atlanta United, Footie Mob, Soccer in the Streets, and host location swag. Soccer in the Streets will be at each location to join in the chanting, cheering, and overall good time.

Footie Mob’s Inaugural Home Tailgate

Footie Mob gathered on March 5th to celebrate Atlanta United FC’s inaugural match. Our award winning BBQ team (no literally – award winning BBQ team) served pounds of pork, over a thousand smoked wings, veggie burgers, and sides. Our DJ kept the music playing. The mini-Footie Mobbers kept the games lively. We even had a special guest swing by to help with the festivities – Mr. Darren Eales.

We want to thank everybody that set-up, cooked, served, registered, danced, laughed, cleaned up, and made the tailgate such an amazing time.
